I am a specialist in cardiology and hold a doctorate in medicine (MD, PhD). I am currently specializing in sports medicine at the Paavo Nurmi Centre, and I also conduct clinical research at the University of Turku focusing on coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, and cardiovascular risk factors.
My areas of expertise include heart murmurs, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart failure, and arrhythmias. You are welcome to my practice for the follow-up of a chronic heart condition or for the evaluation of new symptoms, such as chest pain, a decline in physical performance, palpitations, or shortness of breath. As an endurance athlete myself, I am well-versed in the physiology of endurance sports and have a special interest in managing cardiac conditions in athletes.
In my practice, my goal is to understand each patient's individual situation and to explain medical matters clearly and comprehensibly. Please bring an up-to-date medication list, any previous medical statements, and records of prior cardiac examinations (e.g., echocardiogram, Holter monitor recording, or an exercise stress test) to your appointment.
I treat patients aged 16 and older. Cardiac issues for younger patients are managed by pediatricians and pediatric cardiologists.
