Service content 

  • Sopiva includes statutory occupational health services and basic medical care solutions.

  • It covers all preventive services specified in the Occupational Health Care Act, such as the workplace survey, health assessments and work ability guidance.

  • In addition, Sopiva provides access to basic medical care services, such as appointments with an occupational health nurse, a nurse, an occupational health physician and a general practitioner. 

Sopiva focuses on diseases and needs relevant to the maintenance of employees’ work ability. Basic laboratory examinations, plain X-ray and selected procedures support the timely administration of care and speed up work ability restoration.   The service does not include special support, such as brief therapy, the Mielen huoli mental health line or therapeutic physiotherapy, but these services can be added to the service package as necessary.

The Occupational Health Care Act stipulates and guides the operations of occupational healthcare and cooperation with the customer company. Employers are obliged to organise statutory preventive occupational health services that support work ability for all employees.


Pihlajalinna’s preventive statutory occupational health agreement fulfils all legal obligations that the employer must comply with. At Pihlajalinna, your company is assisted by a designated occupational health team that knows your company and its personnel. Preventive statutory occupational healthcare includes:

  • workplace survey and action plan

  • health assessment

  • work ability support at different stages of one’s career

  • work ability evaluation

  • counselling and guidance

  • work ability statements.

Preventive statutory services are always defined together with the company in accordance with the workplace’s needs.

Appointments

  • Occupational health physician. The occupational health physician serves as a medical specialist in the occupational health team. They assess the employee’s health and work ability in relation to the requirements of their work.

  • Occupational health nurse. The occupational health nurse supports the employee in preventing diseases and health problems and promoting their well-being and physical, psychological and social health.

  • Occupational physiotherapist. The occupational physiotherapist focuses on promoting the employee’s physical work ability and preventing occupational diseases.

  • Occupational psychologist. The occupational psychologist specialises in psychosocial stress factors of work and mental resources. In the occupational health team, the occupational psychologist does not only focus on the work and functional ability of the individual but also the performance of the entire work community.

  • Work ability coach. Employees can turn to the work ability coach at the transition points in their career. The coach supports the employee and helps them plan out the future of their career and consider their opportunities in working life.

  • Other occupational health specialists can be consulted as necessary.

The Sopiva service package also includes

  • Appointments with a general practitioner. A general practitioner treats the most common diseases, such as respiratory infections, musculoskeletal problems and other health problems affecting work ability. A GP provides a quick access to care and supports the restoration of work ability.

  • Appointments with a nurse. A nurse is a link in the occupational health chain and helps with wound treatment, blood pressure monitoring and assessing the need for care, for example. If necessary, they refer you to the occupational health team’s specialists.

  • Additional individual appointments with an occupational psychologist (max. 5 visits).

  • Other occupational health specialists, such as a Mielen Huoli nurse and physiotherapist, can be consulted as necessary.

Individual services

  • Mielen huoli mental health line*. 1–3 times/issue.

  • Brief therapy*. 1–10 times/issue (incl. insomnia therapy 1–6 times/issue).

  • Specialist’s medical consultations*. 1–2 times/issue, subject to an occupational health physician’s needs assessment.

  • Therapeutic physiotherapy. Physiotherapy, specialist physiotherapy (e.g. OMT physiotherapy), according to the Suosikki service level 1–3 times/issue.

  • Imaging studies, Suosikki service level. Only examinations included in the Suosikki service package are available.

  • Clinical physiological and neurophysiological examinations, Suosikki service level. Only examinations included in the Suosikki service package are available.

  • Procedures, Suosikki service package. Acute GP-level procedures.

  • Endoscopy. Through natural openings (e.g. gastroscopy, colonoscopy).

  • Vaccinations for leisure time travels*. Vaccinations against hepatitis, Japanese encephalitis virus, yellow fever, cholera, typhoid fever, rabies, meningococcus, and dengue fever.

  • Driving licence statements*. Other work related services.

  • Light orthopaedic support products and instep support*. Kir-Fix + personal instep supports.

  • Nurse Service*. Includes an assessment of the need for care and NurseChat (+eHTA).

  • Seasonal vaccines*. Influenza vaccines.

  • Other vaccines*. Pneumococcus, HPV, chickenpox, Hib and herpes zoster vaccines.

  • Specialist’s consultations without referral*. Not reimbursed by Kela, special fields can be specified.

  • Supplementary services for the treatment of musculoskeletal problems*. Osteopath, naprapath, chiropractor, massage, acupuncture treatment, foot care.

  • Specialist-level psychological care*. Brief psychotherapy (1–20 times), substance abuse therapist, neuropsychological examinations, psychiatrist.

  • Initiation of sleep apnoea treatment*. Specialist, sleep nurse, CPAP.

  • Eye diseases*. Eye disease examinations, eyelid and other eye procedures, referral by optician.
